Hello! We are three current undergraduates of the new BSc Sustainability programme at University College Dublin – a leading educational and research institute in Ireland. Our team, built on two of the BSc Sustainability streams – Economics & Business, and Social Science, Policy & Law – has developed a substantial multidisciplinary understanding of the issues holding back our society. With that insight, we knew right away that we couldn’t wait any longer to make a difference.
Frustrated by the slow adaptation of sustainable practices in Ireland, I decided to enroll in BSc Sustainability. However, waiting until my 4 year course finished before making a difference was too long. And so, using my experience in digital marketing, I started Shop Sustainability in 2023.
The promising developments of EU environmental policy led me to move from Washington, DC to Dublin in 2022 to study and immerse myself in the transition towards a more sustainable society.
We identified that shopping sustainably is not convenient, and in a world built on convenience shopping – or as we call it, fast-shopping – how can we ever adopt sustainable lifestyles and shopping habits? Plus, who doesn’t like convenience? With Shop Sustainability, you don’t have to change – and you shouldn’t have to either. Here’s how you can green shop with all the same convenience as before, but with a tonne more benefits to you, eco-businesses and startups, as well as the planet.
