BSc Sustainability: Business & Economics

My interest in climate change and sustainability started in 2019 when I attended the Dail as a delegate for the RTE youth assembly on climate change. At the beginning of my advocacy journey I worked with many organisations such as the Irish Second Level Students Union (ISSU) as a Regional Officer, Fridays for Future,  and many others. The experience I gained working with these organisations led me to want to pursue a degree and career in sustainability. Since starting in UCD I have continued my activism and advocacy work, I work with the SU as a class representative and as the environmental campaigns coordinator to organise environmental themed events, campaign for a more sustainable campus, and sit on different boards and committees, this year I helped write the climate action policy for the SU. I am also working as a research assistant for the college of science to design a sustainability toolkit for all UCD students. I’ve also always had an interest in business, especially the fashion industry, and as an eco conscious consumer I’ve faced many barriers to shopping sustainably first hand. This is why I aim to make a difference by working with Shop Sustainability to make eco conscious shopping easy for everyone.
